About MMCI

Institute Overview

Mind Matters Career Institute (MMCI) is an accredited workforce and career training institute serving Jackson, Madison County, and the greater West Tennessee region. Founded by Deswick Bonds Jr., MMCI was created to expand equitable access to licensing preparation, industry-recognized certifications, career pathway development, and essential workforce skills for individuals seeking to enter or advance in today’s most in-demand professions.

As Tennessee experiences rapid economic growth and shifting workforce needs, MMCI provides learners with pathways into high-opportunity fields such as real estate, life & health insurance, barbering education through partner academies, and foundational job-readiness training. Our programs are designed to meet employer expectations, state licensing requirements, and the needs of modern learners—supporting upward mobility, professional development, and long-term career success.

MMCI serves as a bridge between education, employment, and community advancement, helping students build the skills, credentials, and confidence needed to thrive in today’s evolving workforce landscape.

Our institute was built on a simple promise: to give every learner the skills they need to create the future they want.

Workforce Impact

MMCI strengthens West Tennessee’s workforce by preparing individuals for high-demand, credential-based careers while supporting employers with a steady flow of qualified, job-ready talent.

Across Tennessee, employers face significant hiring challenges, including:

  • A statewide shortage of credentialed professionals
  • More than 183,000 job openings across sectors.
  • A 59,000-worker employment gap.
  • Difficulty filling roles requiring customer service, digital skills, sales ability, or state licensing.
  • Barriers to accessible, career-focused training for youth and adults.

MMCI directly addresses these issues through:

  • Licensing Pathways That Lead to Employment
